What is medical cannabis?
Our definition of medical cannabis is cannabis, and its derivatives, which are prescribed by a Doctor to treat a variety of indications. Cannabis has been used therapeutically for thousands of years and in recent decades has gained much attention in the medical community with a growing body of scientific evidence backing the safety and efficacy of cannabis and its various compounds. As a medicine, cannabis is available in various dose formats to suit the patients' specific needs. Examples of medical cannabis can range from herbal material for inhalation to oils, capsules, suppositories, topical and many other formats. These may be registered or unregistered medicines with different scheduling status depending on the active ingredient and country in which you live. Cannabis may be used in primary or complementary treatment protocols as determined by the Doctor and patient. Medical cannabis is regulated ensuring quality control, standardisation and essentially the safety and efficacy for the patient.
How can I order medical cannabis from MGM?
MGM’s products are not currently available to patients in Lesotho.As a South African patient, MGM’s medical cannabis products are available through dispensing Doctors and Pharmacies for patients with permission to access medical cannabis as an unregistered medicine through a sec21 approval. We are in the process of adding an access portal to our websites to assist in facilitating patients in this process. Is medical cannabis legal?
Yes, medical cannabis is legal in South Africa and many countries around the world. Medical cannabis should not be confused with cannabis products that are available without consultation with a credible health care practitioner. These products are not regulated and carry varying degrees of risk. Such products will not be standardised which would undermine your therapy. More often than not these products may also be contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides and various other toxins. If you are using a black market source of cannabis to deal with stress, anxiety, depression, pain or sleeplessness or any other condition, we encourage you to reach out to your Doctor to obtain more information and a script medical cannabis.
