Established in 2017 in the heart of Lesotho's serene landscapes, MGM was founded with a visionary mission: to become a world-class producer of medical cannabis and cannabinoids. Established

Establishment of MGM, positioning us amongst the first to receive a medical cannabis cultivation and processing license in Lesotho.  MGM took on the role as pioneers and path finders in both the domestic and international medical cannabis space.

Early Achievements

Quickly after our establishment, we made history with the first sale of medicinal cannabis under license in Africa, setting a precedent for the industry and cementing our position as market leaders.

Vincent Clarkson

Chief Operations Officer

Vincent heads up the strategy, operations, and business development portfolios of the Company. His personal goals at the Company are to drive relevance by ensuring that the product offering meets both the current and future needs of the market.  Vincent identifies as a socially minded entrepreneur with a deep sense of purpose in his work at MGM.  His comprehensive understanding of cannabis and inherent desire to improve the lives of patients, ensures that the company remain at the very edge of the medical cannabis offering.Prior to MGM, Vincent spent over a decade in the advertising media industry where he performed business development, strategy and advisory roles for both start up and established media companies.  His entrepreneurial disposition was fostered by several notable mentors, whom he credits greatly for his ability to successfully take on the demands of the dynamic medical cannabis industry as co-founder and senior executive of MGM.

Refiloe Matekane

Executive Director of Corporate Stakeholder Relations

Refiloe plays a key role at MGM and as a founding partners has been instrumental in developing the business from the ground up as well as promoting the industry in Lesotho and Southern Africa. Along with his role at MGM, he is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Phekoane Medical cannabis Industry Association of Lesotho and has played critical roles in the formulation of the industry Regulations in Lesotho. He continues to work with the Association and Ministry of Health to refine the Regulatory framework of the industry and to ensure the success of the Lesotho cannabis industry. Refiloe has served as the Chairman of the Board of the Lesotho Electricity Company for the period 2018 - 2020. 2014 - 2016 he worked as the Principal Secretary of The Ministry of Police and Public Safety Lesotho. Refiloe is a Financial Engineer who has worked in the Financial Services Sector of South Africa as a Quantitative analyst for Investment Banks Gensec Bank (Sanlam Capital) and Decillion Alternative Investment managers. He has also worked as a quantitative analyst for the Treasury division of AngloGold Ashanti.

Tshepiso Appie

Non Executive Director

With over ten years of expertise in private equity, private credit, private real estate, private infrastructure, and venture capital, Tshepiso Appie is a specialist in private markets investing. He has experience working for Mergence Investment Managers and Sanlam Investments in the private markets. He began his financial career as an investment banker, working for Rand Merchant Bank (a division of FirstRand Bank Limited), Deutsche Bank, and Citibank.With a wide range of experience, Tshepiso has successfully facilitated transactions involving private equity and corporate advisory services in a variety of industries and sub-industries, such as medical cannabis, secondary mining, student housing, agri-finance, agro-processing, primary and secondary healthcare, waste management, food retail, clothing retail, beauty retail, transportation, telecommunications, industrials, manufacturing, distribution, construction, gaming, information technology, hospitality, insurance technology and financial technology.

Benjamin Bronfman

Non Executive Director

Mr. Bronfman is a serial entrepreneur and has raised over $100m USD for various businesses. Mr Bronfman began working on Cannabis regulatory reform by joining the board of Americans for Safe Access in 2010.  Mr Bronfman also sits on the board of Bedrocan International.

Anaz Mia

Non Executive Director

Anaz is a lawyer and entrepreneur, with litigation and regulatory experience. His self-appointed professional title “Entrepreneurial Evangelist”, speaks to his unadulterated passion for creating new experiences through business. He is currently  the Chief Executive Officer of the Borroka Investment Group, an investment body with holdings spanning the tech, petrochemical, property, agriculture and ecotourism industries. He also owns and manages a Print Making Studio aimed at Youth development and Art Entrepreneurialism.

Carl van Zyl

Company Secretary & Executive Director of Corporate Shared Services

With a distinguished legal career spanning over 15 years, Carl van Zyl stands at the forefront of Maluti Green Med’s corporate evolution as the Executive Director of Corporate Shared Services. Carl's journey in the legal and corporate spheres is marked by his profound expertise in commercial contracting, company law, mining law, and general litigation. Holding an LLM degree from the University of Johannesburg, he combines his academic prowess with a versatile skill set cultivated in South Africa's dynamic legal landscape.At MGM, Carl has been instrumental in navigating the complex legal terrains of the medical cannabis industry. His strategic foresight and legal acumen have been pivotal in MGM’s attainment of CUMS GaCP accreditation and significant strides towards EU-GMP certification, setting the stage for international recognition.Beyond his legal expertise, Carl is a visionary entrepreneur with a deep understanding of corporate governance and entrepreneurial legal concepts. His role as MGM’s company secretary underscores his integral contribution to the company’s strategic direction, ensuring governance frameworks that support sustainable growth and operational excellence.As Maluti Green Med continues to grow under Carl’s guidance, his blend of legal expertise, strategic leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit ensures the company’s position at the forefront of the global cannabis industry.

Michael Miller

General Manager

Mike Miller, a successful commercial farmer for over 25 years, merges agricultural expertise with a passion for project management. Known for his collaborative leadership style, he fosters a constructive and positive work environment, empowering management and staff to reach their full potential. Mike's dedication to teamwork and excellence propels all those around him forward, driving success and growth in the industry.  Mike leads from the front, never backs down from a challenge and is liked and respected by staff and all those who have the pleasure of working with him.

Sebongile Hlapisi

Quality Assurance Manager

Sebongile is the Responsible Pharmacist and Quality Assurance Manager at Maluti Green Med. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) degree obtained from National University of Lesotho in 2013. Has always been passionate about medicinal plants, her final year thesis focused on identifying the phytochemicals in selected medicinal plants used in Lesotho. She has had an illustrious career spanning over a decade in the pharmaceutical sector including retail, hospital and now the field of medical cannabis. She has implemented and manages the QMS ensuring compliance with the quality standards and regulatory requirements. It through Quality Assurance that MGM is able to produce the high-quality medical cannabis for our clients. She aspires to achieve the GMP certification for Maluti Green Med facility.

Isaac Vet

Facilities Manager

Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering from the National University of Lesotho (NUL).  Issac’s previous experience includes security systems technician, engineer and technical administration manager and director of various security systems companies.  As the facilities manager at MGM, Isaac ensures the proper functionality of our world-class automated greenhouse and processing facilities.Having gathered all the required experience during his term at MGM,  he is able guide his team to deal with the maintenance of fertigation system, greenhouses structures,  motors, electrics, HVAC, plumbing, boreholes, RO System, and Security Systems.

Nthatuoa Mosola

Head Production Pharmacist

Nthatuoa Mosola, a dedicated pharmacist who qualified with honours, has seamlessly transitioned into the agricultural sector. She is passionate about helping others and is driven by excellence and the desire to produce world class medicine. Combining expertise in pharmacy with a keen eye for detail, Nthatuoa strives to enriching lives and communities worldwide. She excels at building strong relationships with colleagues, and her compassion and warmth makes her a respected and highly valued member of the team.

Mzwandile Sopeng

HR and Admin Manager

A seasoned human resource practitioner with experience of more than 10 years in the public and private sector. In the years he has acquired skills in recruitment process, conflict resolution and employee relations. He holds a B-Tech Degree in Human Resource Development from the Vaal University of Technology and recently acquired a Post Grad Diploma in Labour Law from the University of Cape Town. Mzwandile aims to have MGM keep up with the fast pace of the industry  and encourages employment equity for females and young people within the organization.

Mokheseng Mokheseng

Assistant Cultivation Manager

Mokheseng Mokheseng is a self identified ‘farm addict’ who was born in Lesotho, Leribe District, with a passion for living things. He has the ability to analyse and interpret data related to crop health, growth patterns and yield, to make informed decisions and adjustments to cultivation protocols. He has in depth knowledge of plant biology, horticulture and cultivation techniques, with a strong understanding of the specific needs of cannabis plants. His agricultural ‘side hustle’ boasts the most unique range of exotic chickens in the country.”

Built to be world-class from the ground up

Our state of the art cultivation and production facilities were designed to ensure that Maluti Green Med would be able to achieve consistent and standardised production of medical cannabis throughout the year.  The facilities include 900sqm of the most sophisticated light hybrid and climate controlled growing rooms as well as a 31 room processing facility that collectively hosts over 30 permanent and highly trained staff members.

The facilities were designed to EU GMP specifications which, along with our procedures, allows Maluti Green Med to produce medical cannabis for the global market.
